When faced with nature's sometimes brutal cruelty the fans are able to sympathize with and cheer with Twetos who win. Jim is the pilot of the bush plane, and Ferno manages the operations at ground. The Twetos never miss of action. The only thing missing is her cheerful personality. With Ariel's parents Jim and Ferno each being pilots, it's only natural Ariel was interested in flying at a young age. The 2011-2012 season of Flying Alaska is a follow-up for Ariel through her journey in order to be a professional pilot. The final step is to earn her pilot's license in the month of April 2012. She takes charge of running her family's business when her father retires. Alaskans are concerned about the increase of sevenfold in the rate of suicide among teens as compared to national norms. Ariel's solution to this issue was co-founding a charity known as Popping Bubbles in which she is on the streets of schools and youth gatherings to talk to children on the reasons why they need to have the motivation to achieve their goals instead of giving in to depression.
