Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and volunteering in the community. First, his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times and started a business career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he played for the team of 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
